Food- The SOS brand food rations are made in the USA, Coast Guard-approved, and have a 5-year shelf life. They are space-efficient, supply 1200 calories per person per day, require no rehydration or reheating, and were developed with low sodium content to not induce unnecessary thirst.  Other options, such as freeze-dried food pouches, require up to 8 cups of water to rehydrate 72 hours’ worth of food and typically supply only 500-600 calories per person per day.
